Ever imagined about you walking on a transparent sheet of ice at -15o C! The Zanskar Gorge Trek, popularly known as the Chadar Trek, gives you this once in a lifetime opportunity. It is one of the most popular treks among travellers all over the world.
At an altitude of 11,400 ft above sea level, the Zanskar river freezes during the winter months from December – February and turns into a sheet (or Chadar) of ice. Unlike any other trek in India, this trek does not go through thick jungles or forests, but travels through some extremely scenic – slippery paths and stunning landscapes of Ladakh.
The trek takes you through beautiful gorges and valleys, with breathtaking views of frozen waterfalls along the way. Befriend the locals, listen to folklore and stories they share. Also get a chance to visit the serene monasteries of Ladakh like Thiksey, Hemis and other monuments like the Hall of Fame, Shanti Stupa etc.
Stay at breathtaking locations in well equipped tents. Exploring the landscape and travelling with a professional trek leader is an added advantage.
